Prepped & ready: how to help your wedding photographer take the perfect shot

  • Written by NewsServices.com

The wedding album is the ultimate special day memento. It’s the keepsake that captures it all: from the bride and groom getting ready to the pre-nuptial shoot, the gorgeous ceremony and, of course, the reception’s fun and frivolity.

But when enlisting the best wedding photographer Western Sydney has available, it’s important that you do a cheeky couple of things to ensure the day’s images go off without a hitch:

  1. Try & choose the right space for the getting ready photos

The getting ready photos are some of the day’s most intimate, especially as they capture both the bride and groom in anticipation of seeing their loving partner at the altar.

But to ensure the perfect shots, make sure you choose a bright, spacious room, as this will allow for plenty of natural light as well as provide your photographer with the required space to capture a great shoot.

  1. Consider your standing positions during the ceremony

This is a lighting thing. The bride usually stands on the left side during the ceremony (unless it is a Jewish ceremony), and so it is up to you, the couple, of how you would like the light to fall during the ceremony.

You may also like to ensure that you both are both standing directly aligned on either side of the altar throughout the ceremony, as this way the expert can capture perfectly symmetrical wide-angled shots down the aisle (another shot that looks divine with natural light pouring in).

  1. Bring your expert along to rehearsals

The most committed and passionate wedding photographer Western Sydney has available will happily come along to any rehearsals to gauge the location and its ambience in order to decide the perfect plan for the special day. This way they can plan the perfect shots to combine in a gorgeous album.

  1. Keep the family photos under wraps

Whilst family photos are one of the most important parts of the day’s photography, they certainly don’t need to dominate the day’s photography. So, try and keep the formal family photos under wraps, as this will allow your professional to focus on some of the pressing elements of the day’s work, including that all-important couple portrait!

Most professionals will gather the fam together immediately after the ceremony to capture those loving shots, especially as all members of the family are still present at this time. But this has its downsides, as many of the photos caught at this time are of people standing around on their phones or being idle, and this only works to delay the overall process.

If possible, it is best to arrange a place for non-familirial guests to go to whilst the family photos are being taken, as it can be difficult to separate the family and friends and organise this time-sensitive moment in the special day. This, or arranging to take the photos further away from where the non-family guests are hanging out, are the perfect ways to ensure you can take this segment of the photography without any problems.

  1. Give your photographer a head’s up regarding any change of plans

A change of plans always occurs with weddings, and you don’t want to leave your expert hanging if there is a sudden change of plans that affects their work. Anything from locational changes, timeline changes, and especially date changes should be told to the professional, as this will give them plenty of time to accommodate these changes and prepare a plan B for your special day!
