The Top 5 Most Expensive Homes in Sydney

  • Written by Modern Australian

Sydney is one of the most expensive suburbs in Australia, with a median property price of just over a million dollars. But Sydney also features fantastic luxury properties that fetch over $50 million. Discover the top five most expensive homes in Sydney valued between $60 million and $140 million in today's real estate market.

1) Level 43/163 Castlereagh Street

Coming in at $60 million, Level 43/163 is a breathtaking penthouse in the heart of Sydney. It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a double garage, a private lift, built-in champagne storage, and an elegant fireplace. This apartment offers over 2,300 sqm of prime space, panoramic views, and a private rooftop pool to give you that 5-star resort experience. Its award-winning design includes marble and glass, double-height ceilings, and unmatched privacy for a CBD apartment.

2) Ganeden, Vaucluse

Next on the list is Ganeden, a three-home combination property priced at $62 million. This mansion sits on 2,400 sqm of hillside between Vaucluse Road and Wentworth Road. It has two swimming pools, a 20-car garage, three kitchens, two lifts, and seven bedrooms. Ganeden is the ideal trophy home for hosting private parties: a separate entrance leads to a function area with a commercial kitchen. This expansive property also offers an outstanding Opera House and Sydney Harbour views.

3) One Sydney Harbour, Sydney

When it comes to high-end Sydney CBD apartments, One Sydney Harbour ticks every box: a private rooftop swimming pool and indoor pool, steam room, gym, a private dining room, and more. The property ranges from one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments spread over three sleek towers. However, one buyer purchased a two-storey penthouse and the apartment below it for over $140m. That's a record-breaking price tag for apartments in Sydney.

4) Elaine, Point Piper

Elaine is a Sydney landmark, built in 1863 and owned by the Fairfax family until its sale in 2017. The property sits on almost 7,000 sqm, making it the second largest home in Australia after another Fairfax property, the Fairwater mansion. It currently has five bathrooms and seven bedrooms, but it's undergoing renovation to update the double living room, basement gym, and facade. Tech billionaire Scott Farquhar purchased Elaine for $71 million, with renovations estimated at $30 million.

5) La Mer, Vaucluse

A six-storey property on 3,345 sqm, La Mer is the third biggest home in Australia. Located next to Ganeden, La Mer also consolidates three houses, setting its price at $70 million. It has six bedrooms in the primary residence, a 20-car garage, a 20-seater cinema, a private garden area, a rooftop lawn and pool, plus self-contained staff quarters. This property is one of the most expensive non-waterfront homes in Sydney.

These luxury homes may have eye-watering price tags, but their value depends on numerous factors: property size, location, construction materials, similar property sales, and extra features like gyms and pools. A professional valuation is the only way to know how much your home is worth. If you want to sell your home as is or consider a renovation, get your property valued to understand its sale potential.
