Where to Find Car Parts in Sydney

  • Written by Modern Australian

It can be difficult to find a trustworthy supplier of car parts in Sydney. Particularly if you drive an older vehicle or an imported model that is less common in Sydney. Even today with so many businesses conducting sales online, there are many people who prefer to conduct things the old-fashioned way. To get your auto parts, you may need to give them a quick call, send them an email, or show up on-site.

An ideal scenario would be knowing where a trusted supplier is so you can get your hands on parts for your vehicle before your baby breaks down or is damaged. When you're in that situation, the last thing you want to do is shop around for a trusted and reliable source.  Here are some places you can go if you find yourself in need of parts.

Auto shops

Auto shops such as Fairfield auto wrecker are a great place to start your search. They usually have a massive online parts catalogue that includes Holden, BMW, Mitsubishi, and many other car brands. You can order everything online and have those parts shipped to you or go into an auto parts store and check out the parts you need for yourself.

What many auto parts shops do is buy parts in bulk from factories all over the world. Buying directly and in bulk allows them to cut costs, making auto parts much more affordable for you.

Some auto shops specialise in the sale of specific car parts. These auto shops usually tell you what they house parts for. For example, some auto stores specialise in the sale of Japanese auto parts and have parts shipped from Japan while others may only sell parts for Mercedes and BMW’s. in such cases as these, you would have to be shopping for parts based on the make and model of your vehicle.

Some auto shops supply brand new parts only. In these cases, parts would be rather costly, more so than you would find at your local car wreckers or used car parts store.

Scrap Yards

Scrap yards are an ideal place to find used parts for a vehicle. Usually scrap yards sell to local used car businesses or even ship parts overseas. Whatever car you may have, you are likely to find one or two of its parts at a scrap yard.

Scrap yards purchase used and damaged vehicles on a daily business. They bring them into the yard and strip them of any parts which can be reused and sold. These parts are cleaned and put aside for sale. Any parts that are damaged beyond repair, will be disposed of. They are first cleaned of any harmful chemicals and liquids and then sent off.

If you are not looking for a brand-new part for your vehicle, then you’re probably better off checking the scrap yard before going into any used parts stores. Such stores often purchase parts from scrap yards and sell them at their stores. You could probably purchase the part for cheaper if you buy it from the scrap store directly. If you cannot find the part you are looking for there, then you can go into the auto shops and try your luck there.
