New partnership to support female entrepreneurs

  • Written by The Warren Centre

The Warren Centre’s Inclusion2 (Inclusion Squared) program is delighted to announce a new partnership with Inspiring Rare Birds to support female entrepreneurs on their journey to success.

“We are delighted to partner with The Warren Centre to support women as they embark on their own unique entrepreneurship journey,” said Rare Birds Founder and serial entrepreneur, Jo Burston.

“Too often women are discouraged by a lack of very early stage information that lets them develop their entrepreneurial business step-by-step. Incubator and accelerator options are useful but can be daunting if you are still developing your ideas,” said Ms Burston.

“Becoming a Foundational partner with The Warren Centre’ Inclusion2, and pledging to fund the first 50 women to engage in the program, will allow the participants to explore entrepreneurship in a community of practice where resources, real people and resources can continue in perhaps what could be a lifelong journey of entrepreneurship or STEM, or even both.”

Warren Centre Program Director Alex Harrington said the Inclusion2 program will provide information on starting and building a business with links to professional services and advice. “This partnership with Rare Birds will provide an essential support pathway for women to continue on their journey,” said Ms Harrington.

The Inclusion2 program is a unique three-tiered approach to support women at every stage of their career development. The first tier is a series of videos from women at university sharing their STEM journey to inspire the girls at school. The second part of the program is a one-day Entrepreneurship 101 course for women of all ages. All participants will gain ongoing mentoring and development support through the Rare Birds program. The third element of the program will engage with a number of female professionals in all sectors and at different stages of their career to identify insights and strategies to support gender diversity.

The World Economic Forum Global Gender Equity Report 2017 released on 4 November, ranks Australia 56 out of 144 countries for labour force participation and 62nd for wage equality.

“Australia could be doing better, and we are thrilled to be working with Rare Birds to deliver strategies that support women and contribute to a fully inclusive economy,” said Ms Harrington.
