Designing a Tranquil Oasis in Your Backyard

Nothing beats a warm summer evening spent in a gorgeous backyard. The backyard is the perfect space to unwind and spend some of the most magical moments with your friends, family, or significant others.

If you already have a backyard, but you don’t feel like it’s an oasis, do not worry. There are numerous ways to make it a more relaxing or more entertaining area. If you already have a vision, here you’ll find some tips on how to start your remodel. If you don’t have an idea on what you’d like to achieve, you’ll find some inspiration here too.

Analyse What You Have

Before you start making any plans, take a look at your backyard and see what you’re working with. For instance, how big or small is the yard? What outside furniture do you already own? What would you like to use the yard for?

Having the answers to these questions will help you go in the right way and construct a realistic updating plan. Another very important factor you need to consider is your budget. Make sure to come up with an approximate amount of money you are willing to spend and start brainstorming from there.

Define Your Idea

Once you have the general idea of your future backyard, you can start modifying it. Firstly, decide what the purpose of the backyard is. It’s not the same if you want it for relaxation or for entertainment, or maybe for both of these options.

If you’re not sure what you’d like it to be, you can look for inspiration online. Check out some Zen gardens and see whether they would work for you. Other interesting themes include tropical paradise and cosy cottage. Setting a theme will make it easier for you to pick out all of the elements and have the yard seem cohesive and well put-together.

Pay Special Attention the Space

The size of the space is one of the crucial factors to consider. The dimensions will tell you exactly how much space you can save for elements such as seating areas or greenery. Don’t forget about the layout either!

When it comes to the space itself, sun and shade also play a major role here. Pay attention to how the shade patterns show up during the day. Information like this can show where to place your seating options or plants.

Choose Your Plants

There is no proper backyard without some beautiful greenery. That is why landscaping and plant selection are so important in your yard too. With a beautiful landscape and a quality solar water pump, you could have the backyard of your dreams.

For a gorgeous and sustainable oasis, focus on plants that are native to your climate. They will often require less maintenance too. The right selection of plants can add layers and depth to the space. Plants of various heights and types will certainly form a lush view.

Introduce Some Water Features

The next thing to bring to your oasis is a proper water feature. For example, ponds or waterfalls are amazing options. They will immediately give a calming effect to the garden, as the sound of water flowing is pretty soothing and relaxing.

On the other hand, if you’re not working with that much space, you might want to check out fountains. Although less impressive than a waterfall, a fountain can still elevate your backyard to a whole new level.

Choose Comfortable Seating

One word is essential when it comes to creating an oasis, comfort. To make the space as cosy as possible, you need to invest in comfortable seating. The best way to invite comfort in your garden is to add some hanging hammocks or swinging chairs. If possible, adding a wooden bench with throw pillows will make the garden even more irresistible.

While comfort is essential, don’t forget about durability either. You are equipping an outdoor space. For that reason, you’ll need furniture that can survive all weather conditions, especially if you don’t have a canopy. Teak and wrought iron are some of the most popular weather-resistant materials you can go for.

Light it Properly

Lighting is a powerful tool that you can use to create the perfect atmosphere in your backyard. Ambient lighting can create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The easiest way to do so is to hang some string lights.

Next to the string lights, you can use lanterns and candles too. These are perfect tools to make the atmosphere more intimate or romantic, especially during the nighttime. However, make sure to keep it all safe with flameless and low-maintenance options.

Add Some Personal Touches

Finally, make your backyard your own. You can choose from a variety of options that can personalise your yard. For example, an art piece that reflects your taste or values can be a great addition. Outdoor sculptures and wind chimes are ideal to add more personality and flair to the space.

If you have a large space to fill out, consider adding a bar. An outdoor bar is a perfect idea if you want to make your yard functional. It can also be a great addition if you like to host parties and welcome guests.

Conclusion

To design your ideal backyard, you’ll need some time and energy. As long as you have a clear vision of what you want to achieve, you’ll know exactly what to get for the yard. Try to stick to the theme and enjoy the perks of your new garden!
