Climb the Roofline of Adelaide Oval

  • Written by Brooke Tolar

See Adelaide like never before with the launch of a new adventurous day tour from Adelaide Sightseeing - Adelaide City Highlights & Commonwealth Bank Roof Climb Adelaide Oval.

This new tour combines the half day Adelaide City Highlights tour with a two hour Roof Climb of Adelaide's iconic, Adelaide Oval.

The Adelaide City Highlights tour features expert commentary by a local driver and explores Adelaide's main attractions, cultural boulevards and the cities parklands. Drive down Adelaide's most elegant boulevard, North Terrace, home to the city's most important cultural institutions. Apart from State Parliament and Government House, this tree-lined street hosts the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum, The University of Adelaide and the National Wine Centre.

The tour then passes through historic North Adelaide and by the Botanic Gardens before stopping to visit St Peters Cathedral. Then it's on to Haigh's Chocolates, the oldest family-owned chocolate maker in Australia, for a factory tour and tastings before being dropped off at Rundle Mall in the heart of the city.

Guests then have time to explore Adelaide city by foot. Shop up a storm, enjoy a delicious lunch at one of many cafes and restaurants or take a stroll along the river, before heading to Adelaide Oval.

Once at Adelaide Oval guests will embark on the two hour roof climb, where adventurous climbers will for the first time, travel along the impressive curved roofline of the Western Stand before navigating across a link bridge to the Riverbank Stand.

On the Riverbank Stand climbers then walk the gantry to an open viewing deck overlooking the goal square, where in a world first, they can sit on one of 16 seats to take in the impressive vistas of Adelaide Oval and beyond.

The Adelaide City Highlights & Commonwealth Bank Roof Climb Adelaide Oval operates daily, excluding public holidays and match days and events and departs from Adelaide Central Bus station at 9.15am and from selected Adelaide hotels. The tour is priced at $165 per adult and $103 per child (12-15yrs).

Adelaide Sightseeing has also launched another new tour, the Cleland Wildlife Park Experience which visits Mt Lofty Summit and Cleland Wildlife Park.

Guests can engage with some of Australia's most unique and curious wildlife and get up close to a cuddly koala, feed the kangaroos and wallabies, see wombats, dingoes, emus, and echidna just to name a few!

Cleland Wildlife Park is nestled within the beautiful Cleland Conservation Park, just 30 minutes away from Adelaide. Bring a picnic lunch or sample a selection of local produce at Cleland café.

The Cleland Wildlife Park Experience operates every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday departing Adelaide Central Bus station at 10am and returning at 330pm. The tour is priced at $78 per adult and $62 per child.

On the existing Victor Harbor & McLaren Vale Highlights tour, Adelaide Sightseeing have added another option for guests during free time in Victor Harbor. In addition to adding a 3 course carvery lunch at the Hotel Victor, guests now have the option to join the Big Duck Boat Tour and enjoy a 45 minute cruise out to Seal Rock, where they will see Long-nosed fur seals, Australian sea lions, dolphins, and even whales, during the winter months.

The Victor Harbor & McLaren Vale Highlights tour operates every Wednesday and Saturday and departs from Adelaide Central Bus station at 9.15am and from selected Adelaide hotels. The tour is priced at $109 per adult and $56 per child and the Big Duck Boat Tour or 3 course lunch are optional extras and additional charges apply.
