Keeping these factors in mind, you need large house numbers that are going to be large enough to see from the street, but not so large that they are garish. Here are some tips for helping you find the perfect large house number.

Distance

This is the first, and perhaps most important factor to consider. If you home is very far from the road, your numbers do need to be larger, or they need to be moved closer to the road. The distance from the road for your house numbers is going to be the biggest deciding factor when it comes to the necessary size of your house numbers.

If you are unsure how large they need to be, you can always print out a copy of the size and the font that you are thinking of and hang it in position, walk out to the street and test if it’s easily visible. This may sound strange, but one of the best ways to really know what you are doing is to have a visual representation of the numbers so that you can actually see how large they are. Material and Durability

The larger the number the more likely they are to be flimsy. When choosing very large house numbers you should look for numbers that are made of material such as aluminium that is going to be durable and last for a decent amount of time. Very thick plastic, or even metal, is a great choice if you are going to be mounting your house numbers in an area where they are going to be exposed to things like sun, wind, water and other weather that might change or degrade the numbers and make them look less than perfect and possibly become brittle.

The next thing you want to keep in mind is the font of the numbers. Larger numbers are going to be easier to read, even if the font is a difficult or not super clear and easy to read. With fonts that are very curvy and loopy, the larger the letter the easier it is going to be to read. With fonts that are very straightforward and bold, you may be able to get away with smaller letters. With those fonts that may be harder to read from a moving vehicle, it is always best to get letters that are very large and that may be easier to read.

Font is an important consideration that can really make a big difference in the overall size that you need to purchase for your numbers. With fonts that are easy to read, you may be able to go with smaller fonts, but you may not have to worry about sizing up to improve readability.

Placement of Your Numbers

The last thing to keep in mind is your placement. With very large numbers, it may be hard to place them directly on your home, but they are easier to read from the road. When you are placing your house numbers you want to ensure that there is a clear line of sight from the number to the road. This is going to make it easier for those looking for your home to find it without having to worry about things like foliage or other yard items being in the way. You also want to make sure that the numbers are placed in a way that they are going to be secure.

With very large house numbers, you need to ensure that they are secure and that they are not going to fall off and become damaged when they fall. Make sure wherever you purchase your numbers from, they come with appropriate fixing hardware, such as rods and spacers. Numbers that are dislodged and not in the proper place can make it difficult to read and make it hard for those looking for your home.
