Best Venture Capital Firms in Australia

  • Written by NewsServices.com

Entrepreneurs found it difficult to find funding for their ideas in the past. But now, several VC australia firms offer seed funding for new businesses and startups. And because businesses can now be created from anywhere in the world, many of these firms have regional offices across the country. We will provide you with a list of Australia's best venture capital firms. The list is based on factors such as the size of the fund, prior investments or exits, and geographic location.

Blackbird Ventures

Blackbird Ventures is a venture capital firm headquartered in Sydney, Australia. They have a focus on early-stage technologies and offer financial services to help startup businesses expand. Blackbird has a strong network of entrepreneurs and supports several partnerships with other firms.

Blackbird Ventures has been operating in Australia for over 10 years. Blackbird Ventures is a large fund with a total of over $400 million in funds under management. One of the most notable investments they have made was in Atlassian, a software company. They invested $10 million into BigCommerce, an e-commerce company. They are located in Sydney, Australia, and offer funding for startups that are less than five years old, and have less than $5 million in funding.

Brandon Capital

Brandon Capital is an Australian venture capital firm with offices in Sydney and San Francisco. They specialize in early-stage investments, with a focus on disruptive companies. One of their most notable investments was in the company Atlassian, which currently has a market cap of over $3 billion, and was founded in 2007 by Mike Cannon-Brookes, who used his own money to start the company.

In late 2010, they invested in the startup The Trade Desk, one of Australia's largest software companies, whose stock price grew from around AUD10/share before this investment (AUD 2,500,000) to almost AUD 15/share after this investment (AUD 4,300,000). This represents a return of more than 100x on their initial investment.

On December 22, 2011, Capital announced that it had acquired the remaining 50% stake held by its partner, US-based private equity firm KKR & Co., as well as a substantial minority shareholding held by existing investors. Following this announcement, The Trade Desk shares rose by 20%, making them the second-biggest gainer among all ASEAN stocks that day. With this purchase, Capital now holds a controlling stake of 52.5%. It also purchased the minority holdings of other investors such as GSO Ventures, which holds a 10% stake in the company, for AUD 100 million, giving them control of an additional 2.5% of the business.

Antler Venture Capital Firm

Antler Venture Capital Firm is located in Sydney. They have an office in Silicon Valley as well. Antler has offices around the world and invests in early-stage startups. They are one of the best venture capital firms for startups because they are interested in investing in seed funding, late seed funding, or early-stage funding. For example, they have invested in companies like Sequoia, Golden Gate Ventures, East Ventures, among others.

They typically invest between $100k to approximately 1 million dollars into a single company that may be looking to raise to 10 million dollars at launch time. The firm also looks towards funding the first few rounds of investment rather than focusing solely on the later stages. In other words, they look for companies that are making progress but need additional backing to reach profitability. Once the company reaches profitability, it will begin investing again. This strategy allows them to invest at a more reasonable rate and focus on the most promising opportunities.

The firm’s goal is to help those companies expand so they can grow. They want to make sure that every startup becomes profitable by providing the necessary guidance and support. They aim to bring together high-quality entrepreneurs with highly innovative technology and solid business models. Antler was founded in 2017 by serial entrepreneur Magnus Grimeland.
