"Career mums" vs "home makers"

Mums today are adjusted into many different scenarios; whether you have a stay at home business, working only a couple of days a week whilst your children are with carers or family support, or even maintaining the traditional "stay at home mum" role. Regardless, each role which you stand for plays a crucial importance into the family unit. People today often question whether stay at home mums work less and have less responsibility than working mums. The debate has run over many decades and certainly won't stop at this stage.

Structure vs. flexibility:

Many people feel that stay at home mums have more flexibility and have more of a relaxed circumstance; that's not usually the case. More than 50 per cent of stay at home mums are feeling post natal depression and have more likely chances of anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder as most stay at home mums are surrounded by same scenarios. This may lead to over cleaning, over thinking and paranoia. Although working mums are likely to have a routine; they can usually fall into the "disorganised routine" due to juggling a lot of weighty tasks in Their lives such as dropping and picking up the children before and after work, running errands and delegating.

Which is more stressful?

Both scenarios are equally stressful; depending on ones ability to handle stress. Many 2017 mums in first world countries deal with stress more so heavily and dramatically. This is caused by the media ( dramatic television conditioning for eg. The real housewives, the young and the restless etc). It's best to ensure you drink plenty of water each day, set mini goals, maintain balance mentally, physically, spiritually and socially each day at a time. refer to a specialist or medical professional for additional help, support and balance in your everyday life.

Getting out of the house!

Statistically Whilst both mums get out of the house equally, it is quite evident it is for different reasons; we tend to question what are the prime differences and how it alters each lifestyle. Working mums in Australia reveal that they spend most of their internet browsing time ordering groceries and necessities; whilst more stay at home mums have more of an opportunity to get to the local grocery store and have a browse. Childrens leisure time may be set back to only weekends for the full time working mum. When we interviewed local stay at home mums they made sure they got out of the house with their bub to the local park, mums and bubs gathering of sport leisure activity or play centre.

Which job is harder? :

Both jobs are just as hard as the other on many different aspects. Both lifestyles can lead to strenuous imbalance, stress, poor diet, and mental congestion. Connecting to your local support group is very important as it gives us different mums the realisation that we are all going through motherhood regardless of the unique circumstance. Your local doctor or hospital can give you the details of your local early childhood clinic where you can book in a mothers group, newborn and toddler development courses.
