Long Island Boasts Signature Calendar of Events for Travelers in 2018

LONG ISLAND, NY (March 5, 2018) – There are many reasons to visit Long Island – New York City's Beachfront Backyard in 2018 from our most notable, the 120-miles of beaches that shape the coastline, to the most distinguishing, rich farmland on the east end that contributes to its award-winning wine country. Currently underway is the 11th annual Winterfest is held on Long Island's East End from February 22 – March 18 and offering attendees an array of activities including wine tours, craft beverage tastings, live music performances, and more for the perfect East End getaway. The Hamptons Art Network, a collaboration of 19 different cultural attractions, will host the first annual THAW Festival kicking off March 23-25 with special performances, workshops, film screenings, and must-see exhibitions throughout the Hamptons.
Marking a historical year, the Belmont Stakes will turn 150 in 2018 and is the most renown of the three Triple Crown events. Held June 7-9, this world-class event will bring together horses, jockeys and spectators to celebrate the sport of racing and the beauty of the Belmont track. In addition, Long Island is set to host the 118th U.S. Open Championship at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton. Scheduled for June 11-17, this is the fifth U.S. Open Championship to be conducted on the storied course, the 10th U.S. Open staged on Long Island and the 19th hosted by New York State.
