Helpful Role of Vacuum Pump Service Kits in Routine Servicing Of Vacuum Pump Systems

  • Written by Alyssa Moylan
Oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pump or simply if you call it as the wet pump is the most common industrially used vacuum pumps. Generally, these pumps run for considerably long hours and in some industries even 24*7 hours, which means the abrasion level remains persistently high. These pumps are known for their cost-efficient workhorse power, high level of performance and capability to take extensive workforce.

Importance of Vacuum Pump Servicing

Since the central working force behind any vacuum furnace is efficiently its pumping system, in most industries high end care is taken to maintain regular service checking procedures, pumping system runs at a record on an hourly basis, so as to keep a neat record of the performance and maintenance ratio of the systems. Routine maintenance ensures peak performance of the pumping systems since, with no industry work speed, performance and efficiency are compromised knowingly. Therefore, when it comes to maintenance it includes routine check, oil level checks, to checking bearing and seals, ballasting, replacement of poppet valves, filter and oil changes and tracking of oil drip rates. Since it is not possible to take the entire vacuum system or pumping system to the servicing center breaking the work flow of the industry, in most industries there are in house servicing professionals well equipped with vacuum pump service kits so as to offer routine to emergency checks at anytime of the day and immediately to tackle every situation and maintain seamless industrial work in continuance.

Common Vacuum Pump Service Issues

While there are several issues which can surface and demand maintenance when your industry is using a vacuum pump system regularly, yet some of the most common ones out of them include these:

*    Contamination of the oil used in the vacuum pump system
*    Owing to long duration usage and dirt accumulation from the oil there is a buildup of sludge
*    Improper oil level (too low or too high)
*    Sometimes valves and the oil lining are clogged with dust and dirt and even sludge formations
*    Malfunctioning of discharge valve due to damage
*    Scratched or ripple formations on the interior surface of the pump
*    Spotting of foreign contaminants like metallic chips or fins, this can lead to greater damage to the system like belts, valves or bearings.
*    Exhausted filters due to over usage without a change
*    Regulation of oil temperature
*    Filtration or draining of water from the bottom during the winters
*    Abrasion of slipping belt due to constant friction
*    Wear and tear of the bearing if the belt is too tight

Oil Contamination and Sludge Formation

Amongst the multiple issues highlighted above one of the most common is that of contamination of vacuum pump oil and sludge formation. In a vacuum pump, the operation requires the oil to be heated at a high temperature where vapors are formed quite naturally. Whenever there are gas vapors there remains an extensive scope of the vapors condensing and getting mixed with the oil inside resulting in unwanted contamination. This contamination of vapor and oil leads to the inefficient performance of the vacuum pump at the end of the day.

Again, owing to a continued use over the long term, the oil may end up breaking chemically leading to a sludge formation, mixed with other ingestions. This leads again to further abrasion of the internal parts of the vacuum pump. In order to maintain the performance quotient and efficiency of the systems regular cleaning, checks, and servicing are simply inevitable and for that, there are a need to have an in the house, high quality vacuum pump service kits to minimize dependency on external servicing sources.
