TOOLS YOU NEED TO KEEP IN YOUR GARAGE

  • Written by News Company

A garage is normally the most overlooked part of the house. A garage is a storage unit for your vehicles. However, many of us treat it like a place where all the old stuff and junk go to. You don’t want to use this treadmill anymore? Toss it in the garage. No place to put these boxes of summer clothes in? Yes, throw it into the garage workbench.

A garage is usually treated as the spare part of the house, even though it can be and is much more than that. Each room or part of the house has a specific purpose to it. We have our kitchens with top of the game cooking range and cutlery. We have our bathrooms with a wide range of products stacked up on the shelves. Similarly, we have our lounges with amazing wall pieces and television sets. Point is that each room of the house comes with a set of necessities and must-have things. You cannot imagine a kitchen without plates in it, can you? Just like that, a garage cannot be a garage without its tools. So, chuck out all of those miscellaneous items you are hoarding up and go hit the hardware store to get new stuff. Here is everything that you must get.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER

No matter, what you are doing or who you are, safety comes first. You need to prioritize yourself always. Nothing you do is worth losing an arm or leg over. This is especially applicable in the garage where you are dealing with cars and carrying out tedious and risky tasks. You are dealing with heavy machinery, proper engines, you are working with wires, spark plugs and so on. Therefore, it is well understood that anything might get out of hand. Even if you are extra careful, anything and everything can go wrong. For such cases, you need a fire extinguisher nearby. No garage should be without a fire extinguisher. It is absolutely against the laws.

SCREWDRIVERS

One of the first things everybody learns about hardware items is the need for and importance of screwdrivers.

Screwdrivers are the first set of tools that our parents introduced us to when we accompanied them to the garage wearing our overalls, feeling like the most responsible kid in the lot. Truth is that the fact doesn’t change even after we grow up. The need for a screwdriver is still as pivotal as it was back then. Nearly, all of the machines, we have in the market, are bound shut by screws. This means that you are going to need a screwdriver even for the simplest of jobs and that pretty much makes it a must-have item.

TORQUE WRENCH

Specific heavy machinery items like the engine of a car or parts of a generator need torque wrenches. Torque wrenches have the same job of tightening or loosening up screws and bolts. However, the sizes of these bolts are too large to casually twisted shut with a screwdriver. These bolts are large and require torque to be bound shut. This is where torque wrenches come in (the name is pretty literal). These tools add the necessary torque and fulfill their purpose.

Torque wrenches are the superheroes of parts that need to have their bolts and screws tightly shut no matter what the situation is.

JACKS AND JACK STANDS

Working in the garage doesn’t always mean that you will pop open the engine hood and bend over it with a tool belt around your waist. No, it isn’t that easy. Working in the garage is a messy job, you are not only going to get your hands dirty but also end up squeezing yourself under the car to look at its belly. Yes, you read it right. For such situations, you need jacks and jack stands. They lift your car to the desired height and enable you to work under it as comfortably as you can. They are strong pieces of equipment and very reliable.

Conclusion:

Going to the hardware shop isn’t easy. You find yourself amongst numerous aisles piled up with all sorts of objects that might seem foreign to you. Therefore, you must know what the basics are and what items your garage must have to fight any sorts of problems that might arise with your vehicles. So, do a quick survey of your garage and jot down everything that is missing or needs a replacement. And, then hit the hardware store!
