Fashion, Music & Tech Collide Inside OPPO’s R11s Launch

  • Written by Ariana Shutte

Sydney, Australia - 2 February 2018 - Last night, over 300 of Sydney’s most stylish attend the launch of smartphone brand, OPPO’s latest additions to its camera focused R-Series, the much anticipated R11s and R11s Plus, at Carriageworks.

The night kicked off with OPPO Australia's Executive Director, Michael Tran taking the stage to address attendees and introduce the latest devices. Outlining the new R11s series’ key features including, rear 20MP+16MP dual camera, as well as a front facing 20MP selfie camera, AI facial recognition technology and fullscreen display - the new R11s series positions itself as more than just a smartphone but the ultimate tech-cessory.

With a strong focus on fashion, OPPO’s ongoing partnership with Australian fashion-house Aje, saw a collaborative runway show. Models strutted down the catwalk sporting Aje’s latest collection, each with an R11s in hand, showcasing the device’s three available colours of black, champagne and red.

The event also marked the beginning of breakout Australian artist, Nicole Millar’s OPPO ambassadorship. Millar provided a powerful and energetic performance of her latest hits throughout the Aje runway show.

Speaking backstage after the event, Nicole said, “Tonight was a lot of fun and I’m super excited to be working with OPPO because there’s such a natural alignment between music and technology.

“Over the coming months, we’ll be working on a series of other collaborations and experiences, so I’m really looking forward to bringing these to life in a creative way.”

Michael Tran says the alignment with Aje and Nicole Millar highlights the ever-expanding crossover between technology, popular culture and fashion.

“From photoshoots and runway shows to Instagram and paparazzi, fashion and pop culture is all about capturing the perfect look in stunning beauty - your world in focus. We’ve invested heavily in our smartphones to develop industry leading photography capabilities and awe-inspiring design to do just that,” said Tran.

Australia’s most prominent influencers, techies, fashionistas and lifestyle journalists all got the opportunity to get their hands on the latest R-Series devices. Interactive and immersive experience rooms were set-up throughout the historic Eveleigh Rail Yards, now known as Carriageworks. Each experience room highlighted a feature of the cameraphone’s latest photographic innovations.

“The R11s provides flagship quality features and hardware without the high price point. We want to continue to bring Aussies the best cameraphones without them having to break the bank,” said Tran.

With the R11s devices, OPPO continues to strengthen their reputation of delivering high-end devices at a reasonable price. Following the success of the R Series’ predecessor, the R9s being named the world’s best-selling Android smartphone in 2017, Tran anticipates the R11s to continue off this momentum.

“This is why Aussies have come to love our phones, as proven by our recent Canstar Blue Award for most satisfied customers. We take our time to make sure each device meets the needs and wants of our customers. We expect the R11s to become a favourite amongst consumers looking for an amazing cameraphone experience.”
