Discover The 5 Easiest Animals to Raise As A New Farmer

  • Written by News Co Media

If you’ve ever thought about starting your own farming business then you’ll want to know the easiest animals to start with. While it is possible to start by growing crops, raising animals is generally an easier starting option and will help you to make a success of your new venture.

Starting with livestock can also take less space than crops, reducing the potential start-up costs. However, regardless of what type of farming business you choose, you’re going to want to consider getting livestock finance. If you’re going into business as a farmer a dozen chickens s not going to be sufficient. You need enough livestock to create a profit. For that, you’ll probably need financial assistance.

  1. Chickens

Chicken remains one of the most popular options for consumption. It’s used in a wide variety of dishes and is constantly in demand. Starting a farming business with chickens will virtually guarantee you can make some money; Of course, you’ll need the right equipment to allow you to nurture your young chicks and create chickens worth selling.

Chickens can also be kept for their eggs, this is another potentially lucrative option.

  1. Cattle

Cows are surprisingly easy to look after. Although they can be expensive to purchase they make a good one at the market and need little more than grass to eat and space to roam. Alongside this, you can consider getting milk from your cows and selling this.

You should note that farmers tend to do one or the other, milk cows are not generally good beef cows.

  1. Pigs

Pigs have a reputation for being filthy animals but they are actually very clean. Yes, their sty will be full of mud and they like to roll in it. But, they roll to stay cool. If you give them a cool environment they don’t need to roll in mud and you’ll be surprised at how clean they are.

Pigs are easy to look after. They need space to move around and they’ll eat almost anything. If you choose to feed them organically you can command a higher price when you come to sell.

  1. Bees

This isn’t the first thing people think of when looking at farming ventures but bees produce honey and honey is always in demand.

Although a fear of bees is not beneficial, if you can conquer this you’ll find it can be a lucrative farming venture. Bees need very little space and generally take care of themselves. You’ll need to split hives when they get too large and you’ll need to collect the honey periodically. That’s it!

  1. Sheep

Sheep are a good choice for new farmers. They will eat almost anything and need very little attention. All they ask for is some space to move around. You can then benefit from selling them for meat o simply selling the wool off their back after shearing them.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re looking to start a homestead or a full-scale farm, choosing the right animals will make it much easier for you to succeed.
