Urostomy Belts: Everything You Don’t Know

After your urinary diversion surgery, and your pouching system has been decided (whether a one-piece or two-piece pouching system), the perfect urostomy belt that will hold your pouch in place with no discomfort to you in the least must be carefully chosen. Especially if you’re on wheelchairs, these powerful urostomy belts for sale alongside the content shared below will help you get through this stage conveniently.

Why You Need Urostomy Belts

Note; consult with your doctor first before deciding whether you can use a urostomy belt or not. This way, you avoid stories that touch.

• Security; urostomy belts, when chosen right and worn perfectly, can give you a sense of security and courage, allowing most users to even get back to their normal lives without worrying about their conditions.

• Safety; imagine going on a shopping and suddenly having your pouch system falling, spilling your urine everywhere. While that and similar events can be embarrassing, a urostomy belt offers safety, holding your pouching system in place as it gets heavy with urine.

• Comfort; not only will the belt bear much of the weight of the urine in your bag as it gets heavy but it is a more convenient pouching system support compared to tapes. But here’s why. Tapes are attached directly on your skin and can become painful, causing peristomal skin rashes when it’s time to get rid of your system for replacement or maintenance. Besides, tapes don’t hold as effective as belts do.

• Budget-friendly and timeless; why would you want to keep spending on tapes when you can buy a belt once and for all for a few bucks? Besides, belts are more fitting, can be adjustable more decisively, and are repairable when they fault out or break.

• Privacy; some uniquely designed urostomy belts conceal your pouching system so much that hardly will you be identified with a pouching system.

• Prevention; with a urostomy belt, you can prevent the formation of hernia defects and reduce the chanced of incisional or parastomal defects.

What To Lookout For When Buying Your Urostomy Belt

• A good urostomy belt, regardless of design, should come with a wide range of hole diameters for adjustability and comfortable fit around your system

• Flexibility is another important factor. Choosing a flexible belt that expands and contracts accordingly as you move or as your ostomy kit fills up saves stories that touch

• If it doesn’t have enough premade holes for buckling, the material should be easy to puncture and a puncturing tool should be included in your purchase

• A good rule of thumb; your belt should be highly durable and comfortable

• There should be adequacy in the belt’s width

• It should be easy to fix, detach, and maintain

• An extended girth around the waist should be included

Special Note

When wearing your urostomy belt, ensure that space of two fingers is provided between your body and the belt to avoid getting cuts or deep grooves in your stoma or having sores around your skin.
