Picnic Island Tasmania
- Written by Clem Newton-Brown
Picnic Island has recently put together an eclectic range of hosted experiences for guests to enjoy this boutique private island retreat.
For just $1290 per person you can be fully hosted with an expert guide to help you get the most out of your visit.
If you are a photography enthusiast, join one of our astro photography workshops with legendary "aurora chaser", Aaron Jones. You will get up early and stay up late to get those perfect shots and Aaron will also guide you through desktop editing.
The East Coast of Tasmania delivers some spectacular aurora opportunities and Aaron is the photographer behind one of the most iconic aurora shots ever captured in Freycinet.
If relaxation is your thing then spend a weekend with local yoga and mediation instructor, Kez Smith, of Long Point Yoga.
Kez will tailor a programme to suit the group and provide great healthy food options and plenty of time for people to quietly appreciate island life.
For nature lovers we have published birdlife academics David Pemberton and Rosemary Gales who will answer your every query about the abundant birdlife on and around the island. They will guide you through nightly walks in our own seabird colony where you will intereact up close and personal with our resident penguins and shearwaters as they return to their nests at night.
For those who like a bit more action, spend a weekend with a guide from Freycinet Adventures who will take you kayaking and hiking through the Freycinet National Park, including the magnificent Wineglass Bay.
Guests can get a group together and book one of our expert guides on a date to suit or alternatively join one of our group weekends where we have a maximum of 10 guests.
