6 DIY Projects to Do with Your Kids During Springtime

  • Written by NewsServices.com

Spring is an exciting period because of the many things the new season brings, such as new blooms, warm sunshine and bright colours. You can celebrate the change in weather with your children and teach them to appreciate the season when everything comes to life with fun DIY projects.

Other fun activities you can do with kids include building birdhouses or special boxes for insects to stay in your garden, growing vegetables, making and flying kites, making bug charts for collected bugs, or colouring fun pictures. All these fun activities will not only become a lifelong memory for your kids, but will also help strengthen your bond.

Some activities to do with kids include:

Paint spring pictures

You should assemble those art materials and paint pictures with your children. For instance, your child can paint what they see during the new season. They can paint a scene of springtime, including beautiful rainbows.

Recycle welly boots

With help from your kids, collect and assemble all the welly boots that your children have outgrown. Create holes at the bottom for drainage and then put compost or soil inside. Choose the specific flower seeds you would like to plant and place them along your path outside or at your front door. Ask the kids to help you water them occasionally until they bloom. The kids would love to see their old wellies supporting flower growth.

Make bunnies using fingerprints

This activity is a bit messy but it is very fun and engaging. You can place your thumb in paint and draw the head of the bunny, then dip the other fingers in paint and form the rest of the body. This bunny paint can be a great keepsake for the family.

Make birds from paper plates

You can make many different types of birds using paper plates. The children will love painting and decorating the birds using any colours they want.

Paint butterflies

This is an interesting project for children of all ages. Fold a piece of paper in half. Open it and splash different colours of paint in the middle area of the paper. Fold the paper again and run your hands on the folds to flatten the paper. Open the paper and you will see a beautiful butterfly. When the paint dries, draw the eyes, an antenna and a smile.

Make a photo project for spring

You should grab your phone, go outside with the kids and ask them to spot signs of the springtime. Help them to take photos, download them and print them to make an album for springtime. Encourage them to be very creative when designing the covers of the album.

Many of these simple projects can be created using available materials. Moreover, they are not time-consuming, are very fun and will help to nurture your children’s craft. When all that is finished, make sure your garden is ready for BBQ season when summer rolls around!
