6 Stunning Ways to Spruce Up Your House

  • Written by Chloe Taylor

Every once in a while, every homeowner starts asking themself the same question: how can I update my home so that it looks fresh and new? No need to hire a home remodeller just yet! With these six effective tips in mind, you can spruce up your home without tackling any major home renovation projects.

Introduce a new wall color to liven up the room

Easy and inexpensive, treating your walls to a new coat of paint is an upgrade that can completely transform the feel of a room. It can be an easy DIY project you can tackle over the weekend, and if you pick the right colors, it may end up looking like you’ve hired a professional decorator.

If you’d like to make a change but don’t feel like painting all four walls in a different paint color, consider adding a statement wall. Whether you choose to paint one wall in a bold color or opt for a playful pattern, it will make a world of difference while creating a nice focal point as well.

Remove visual clutter to create an open, airy feel

The items we choose to surround ourselves with definitely contribute to giving your home some personality and character. The problem arises when our living environment becomes too stimulating which usually happens when there’s too much visual clutter. Not only does it create a physical and visual distress, but it also makes it more difficult to clean.

Consider taking a more minimalist approach to decorating your home and getting rid of items you no longer need or use. Follow the advice of Marie Kondo, a professional organizational consultant, and edit your possessions, keeping the things that ‘spark joy’ and either selling or donating the items that don’t. By decluttering your home, you will create an open, airy feel and give your interiors a more welcoming vibe.

Bring new accessories to spruce up your interiors

While removing some of the items may help create more room in your home and make it more inviting, don’t go overboard and remove all the decorations. Accessories are often the ones that make a house a home, and without them, our interiors may start to feel austere, cold, and bland.

Cozy up your interiors by bringing in new accessories, but remember to be mindful in the process. Select items that tell a story and that you feel drawn to, or, if you’re feeling crafty – make some DIY wall art and display it so you can admire its beauty every single day.

Update the textiles both inside and outside the house

Swapping up your textile decor pieces can be a cheap and inexpensive way to boost the look of your interiors. From throw pillows to curtains to rugs and bedding, you can easily swap your textiles to match the room’s color palette or change them with seasons to match the vibe of the great outdoors. You can also use them to introduce a new design style or add pops of color to an otherwise dull room.

Updating the textiles is a simple way to give your interiors a quick makeover without making any major changes, and you can do the same with your outdoor decor such as outdoor rugs, pillows, and poufs.

Create an outdoor oasis for relaxing and entertaining

When the warm days roll around, it pays to have an outdoor area to enjoy in, whether it’s a small patio or a large backyard. To create an outdoor oasis that’s perfect for relaxing and entertaining, consider bringing indoor comfort outside by adding comfortable furnishings, cozy textiles, decorations and plants to your outdoor lounge.

Whether you plan on using your outdoor room for entertaining the guests, throwing family movie nights, or watching sports with friends, your outdoor oasis could benefit from adding a high-quality outdoor entertainment set. From outdoor LED TVs to soundbars to Bluetooth speakers, any product from the wide range of Furrion electronics will provide you with an immersive digital experience and take outdoor living to the next level. Opt for robust, weather-resistant electronics that are built specifically for outdoor use. That way, you will be able to get even more use out of your outdoor room.

Perk up your patio with effective flooring

Speaking of sprucing up your outdoor area, your patio may also benefit from making a couple of upgrades in terms of flooring. If your concrete patio flooring feels boring and in need of a makeover, consider perking up your patio with pavers.

They come in a variety of colors, sizes, and shapes, so you can really get creative with your patio paver design, experimenting with various materials and patterns and using different textures and finishes to create an outdoor area with an outstanding visual appeal.

A home is a place that inspires and rejuvenates, and even a couple of seemingly small changes go a long way in making a house feel cozier and more enjoyable. Use these suggestions to give your indoor and outdoor spaces a makeover and take your home from drab to fab.
